The Future of Work: AI as a Collaborator, Not a Competitor
This month, I am wrapping up my series on how AI is affecting the human experience and how marketers can explore the technology in a human-centric way. We started by exploring the definition of AI, then dove into examples of applications in Machine Learning and Robotics.
Now, let’s look forward. How will AI affect my career?
The stark prediction that continues to circulate in many business circles is that “AI won’t take your job; someone who knows how to use AI will.”
This is indeed true; however, that does not mean we all need to become power builders and know the ins and outs of all parts of the technology.
AI is available to you as a powerful collaborator and a thought partner. This ever-expanding technology is a powerful tool for executives to up-level their organizations.
Embracing a growth mindset about automation and augmentation while reaching out for new opportunities is the best start. There are courses across platforms like LinkedIn Learning and Coursera that will help you shift perspective from the technology itself towards using AI as a collaborator and thought partner. A short one from Coursera’s CEO, Jeff Maggioncalda, is one I would recommend.
Build a culture of adaptability within your teams. By staying curious, embracing lifelong learning, and developing a collaborative mindset, you can position your team to work alongside AI, not against it. This human-AI partnership holds immense potential for innovation and progress. The future of work is not about being replaced by machines, it’s about leveraging their power to achieve more.
However you decide to embrace the future of work, never lose sight of your people. Their ingenuity and resilience will be your success, or your downfall.
